These free business plan template downloads give you 16 Word documents on US Letter and A4: a one-page business plan, a business proposal, a project plan and a statement of work, each in colour and in black and white. I’m Patrick Elliott, a teacher and Inclusion Lead. I built these so a new idea fits on one page first: short, clear sections that make you decide what matters before you write anything longer.
In this guide, you’ll find which template suits each stage of a business idea or project, what to write in each section, and how to keep it short and clear.

What Is a One-Page Business Plan?
A one-page business plan sums up a business on a single sheet: what it does, the problem it solves, who its customers are, how it is different from competitors, how it will find customers, its goals and the money it needs. It is quick to write, easy to share, and a good first step before a full plan.
Which Business Plan Template Should You Use?
- One-page business plan: mission, the problem, products and services, target customers, competitors, marketing, first-year goals and money needed.
- Business proposal: the client’s need and your solution, scope of work, a timeline, a pricing table with a total, terms and an acceptance line.
- Project plan: the goal, twelve tasks with an owner, start and end dates, status and a done box, and a table of risks.
- Statement of work: purpose, scope, deliverables with due dates and how each will be accepted, payment milestones and signatures.
- Black and white versions: every template also comes in a printer-friendly black and white version with grey headings, to save ink.
How to Write a One-Page Business Plan
- Write what the business does in one sentence.
- Describe the problem it solves and the customers who have that problem.
- Say what makes you different from competitors and how customers will find you.
- Set three goals for the first year and list the money you need and what it is for.
Keep every answer short: if a section needs a page, it belongs in a full plan. Use plain numbers you can check, and review the plan every few months. These are planning templates, not legal or financial advice.
Black and White Versions
Every template on this page also comes in a black and white version with the same layout: grey headings and an outlined title, so it prints clearly on any printer and saves ink. In the download box, choose Colour, Black and white or All, then your paper size: A4, US Letter or both.
How to Print at the Right Size
Print at 100% on US Letter or A4, or save as a PDF to share. Each box grows as you type, so check the page before you print.

Yes. Choose A4 or US Letter and download all the Word templates in one ZIP file at no cost.
Who made these business plan templates?
Patrick Elliott, a teacher and Inclusion Lead, designed and built every business plan by hand in Microsoft Word.
Is a one-page business plan enough?
It is enough to test an idea, guide your first year and explain the business quickly. A bank or investor may ask for a full plan with financial forecasts as well.
