These free chore chart templates give you 10 Word documents on A4 and US Letter: a weekly chore chart, a family chore chart, a pocket money or allowance chart, a daily routine chart and a classroom jobs chart. I’m Patrick Elliott, a teacher and Inclusion Lead. I use routine and job charts at school and at home, so I built these with short job lists, clear tick boxes and a classroom jobs chart for teachers.

In this guide, you’ll find which chart suits your family or class, and how to set one up so children actually keep it going.

What Is a Chore Chart?

A chore chart lists the jobs someone does at home and has a box to tick each day they do them. Children see what is expected, parents stop repeating themselves, and a reward or pocket money at the end of the week keeps everyone motivated.

Which Chore Chart Should You Use?

  • Weekly chore chart: one child’s jobs with a tick box for each day and a reward box.
  • Family chore chart: every job, who does it and a tick for each day, in landscape.
  • Pocket money or allowance chart: what each job pays and what was earned and saved.
  • Daily routine chart: morning, after school and bedtime jobs, which suits children who like a clear routine.
  • Classroom jobs chart: 16 class jobs, such as line leader and librarian, with names for this week and next.

How to Set Up a Chore Chart

  1. Choose jobs that suit each child’s age, and keep the list short.
  2. Agree the reward or pocket money before you start.
  3. Put the chart where everyone sees it, such as the fridge.
  4. Check it together at the end of each week and celebrate the ticks.

For younger children and those who need a visual routine, keep to four or five jobs and print the daily routine chart, so each part of the day is broken into small steps.

How to Print at the Right Size

Print at 100% on plain paper or card and put it on the fridge or classroom wall. The family and pocket money charts print in landscape.
